The Haircut!

Ok, so we finally did it! We have been dreading this day, but it finally came. We both loved Peyton's long, flowing locks, but we decided it was time that our child looked more like a little boy than an old woman! So Shawn got his clippers and went to work! I was almost in tears seeing all of the blond locks falling to the ground, but there was no turning back! I couldn't believe how much Peyton enjoyed it, either! He sat there perfectly still the whole time, just like he had been waiting for this day! Once it was all off, I was surprised how different he looked- but I liked it! He was so happy to have all that hot hair out of his eyes--he just kept rubbing his head and smiling! The only bad part about it is that everyone says he looks even fatter with his hair cut--which he can't really afford any more weight gain! We love it though--in the end I filled up two whole bags of hair for his baby book...so good thing we didn't let it get any longer! Here's to Shawn- maybe he should have become a barber!

Fieldtrip!

This week since Riley was out on spring break, his amazing teacher Mrs. Dove set up a fieldtrip for the kids at the shark reef. It was the cutest thing ever. They took them into a classroom for the first hour where they let them make sea turtles, and then they had a bunch little sea creatures that they could look at and touch. Riley's favorite were the shark teeth and the giant snake. After they talked about different ocean animals, we got to go through the shark reef and see everything. Not surprisingly enough, Riley's favorites were the Pirhanas and the Sharks (ask him why--they both eat people!) He even got to pet a sting ray, which was pretty cool. Riley loved it, but Peyton hated every second of it and screamed almost the whole time. Typical. Luckily there were tons of people there so his screams just kind of got drowned out by all the noise. It was so fun, but I was exhausted when we got home and ready for a nap!

Easter Eggs!

For family night this week we dyed easter eggs, which was lots of fun. Riley loved it and was so cute just throwing the eggs in the cups (most of them cracked)...he got a Pirate coloring set this year, so he also thought it was pretty cool to put swords and daggers on all of the eggs after they dried...perfect for the easter theme, right??? Peyton didn't really know what to think. He threw one egg in and that was enough. He was too busy putting on Kim's lip gloss the rest of the time to care. So now we have about 3 dozen hard boiled beautiful eggs, only problem is, nobody will eat them! Good thing eggs are cheap, right???

Soccer is here again!

Riley had his first soccer game of the season last Saturday--and he loved it! I think his favorite part was that his team's name is the Thunderbolts, which in his eyes could not be any more cool! He also loved wearing his new cleats and was so proud of them, even though he kept telling me that they "felt funny!" This year he is playing with older kids, so hopefully it will bring his ego down a little after last season! He did great on Saturday, though. By great, I mean that he didn't throw himself on the ground with any tantrums after not scoring any goals...so we are making progress here people! At least he tried the whole time, so I can't ask for more--and the best part for him--SNACKS! You have to love 4 year old soccer! Even though it was freezing, Peyton even loved it and was really getting into it. I think he already "gets" it, as he was kicking the ball around the whole time on the sides (that is the whole time when he wasn't eating...) He even helped Riley warm up a little before the game!
So now that soccer is here, we will finally have something to do again on the weekends that does not involve watching football on tv!

Cool Kids!

Peyton is so proud of himself and thinks he's really cool becuase he's discovered the potty! He is obsessed with it and sits on it all the time! He often tells us right after he goes in his dipaer, so I think he is kind of getting the hang of it. Hopefully he will be a quick learner and will figure this thing out soon!!!
Riley thinks he is too cool...he got these sunglasses at his school store, and thinks he is a rockstar when he wears them... he always has to find them and put them on when we go out becuase he says he has to look "cool"....wish I could look cool in a pair of $1 sunglasses!!!

Daddy's little helper...

I just had to include this, Peyton helping daddy put the finishing touches on the swingset, too cute! He is obsessed with his dad, and has to be by his side helping him every second of every day when he is home! Diaper hanging out and all, he is just happy to be there!

Project Complete!!!

After a whole month and many agonizing hours, the swingset is finally done! I am so proud of ourselves, since we are talking about two people who can barely hang up a picture! Now all we need is a little landscaping, and we are set! It's so great, the boys are out playing on it all day every day, who knew this would be such a good investment? One thing I have learned from this project: swingset= great babysitter! Come over and play anytime!
